Bio

Bill Fortenberry is a professional writer with nearly 40 years’ experience. a former journalist and current public relations professional. He spent the first half of his career as a reporter, editor and columnist for a daily newspaper. Since 2001, he has worked in the public relations department of a health system.

He is a late-in-life grad student studying professional writing who posts occasionally to his blog and spends way more time than he should binge-watching streaming series.

Bill discovered the story that became Lint Head in a hair salon much like Lords and Ladies. He paid his way through college cutting and styling hair there 40 years ago. His second novel, Aunt Connie's Old-Fashioned, New-Fangled, Electric-Powered, County Road Christmas, is based on his memories of visiting his Aunt Connie during the Christmas season. Connie decorated every square inch of her home — inside and out — and built a campfire each evening where she and her siblings would gather with their instruments to trade instruments, songs and stories. He and his wife of 32 years are the parents of two adult children, Ethan, a musician and songwriter, and Autumn, an educator.
